Our odyssey through the top 121 videogames of all time is chronicled here.
Part 1 - The 1980s
Videogames begin here, kind of. The earliest days of the medium give us Defender, Outrun, California Games, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and Final Fight.
part 2 - 1990
The new decade kicks off by looking back to the culture of the 80s somewhat with Top Gun inspired GLOC and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker. Plus gaming goes portable with Super Mario Land, Tetris and Double Dragon on the Game Boy.
part 3 - 1991
1991 was brilliant…wasn’t it? Anyway we can ignore the real world with The Simpsons Arcade, WWF Wrestlefest and WWF Superstars on the Game Boy, while the Mega Drive establishes itself as the coolest rodent around with Sonic The Hedgehog, Micro Machines and Streets of Rage.
part 4 - 1992
It’s a year of sequels with Street Fighter 2, Road Rash 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but at least Super Mario Kart came along to invent an entirely new genre. Perhaps just as importantly, GamesMaster arrived and changed the public perception of games forever.
Part 5 - 1993/4
In our most ambitious effort yet, we're covering two years! With Streets of Rage 2, the launch of the Mega CD with Sol Feace and Night Trap, then the dawn of the PC with On the Ball, Day of the Tentacle and UFO Enemy Unknown, also known as X-Com.
promotional white christmas 2024
Merry Christmas! It's the Promotional Whitenoise Christmas Special 2024! We're briefly emerging from the past into the present to look at what I've been playing this year. MAJOR SPOILER ALERTS for Jusant, A Short Hike, Not For Broadcast and The Quarry. Plus Star Wars if you somehow haven't gotten around to those yet.
