wipeout 2097 (Playstation)
The original Wipeout put the Playstation on the map, particularly here in the UK, tapping into club and rave culture with its soundtrack and marketing. 2097 made that game even better! Plus more "phat beats" I believe would be the term...

command & conquer: red alert (pc)
It's an alternate WW2 with the Russians expanding over Europe and the situation is grim. Thanks a lot Einstein! But it's also the core Command & Conquer gameplay polished to near perfection.
